Hello

I started a new character, a priest. To become a healer.
However reaching the level where I need to choose a class specialization Zygor suggests I do shadow Priest.
Did my second dungeon and was told I should not enlist as a healer as Shadow...

Why do Zygor Suggest Shadow? And what class would be a better healer?

Zygor suggests shadow because the guides are mainly for solo questing.
And questing as a healer is a pain (except for a priest, see below).

I don't know if it's possible to heal low level dungeons with a shadow spec until you can dual spec at level 30.
With MoP Blizzard removed most healing spells from the hybrid caster classes' damage spec so it's not possible to heal higher level dungeons as balance druid for example. At least with WotLK this was possible (when especially the tank was not so bad).

As a priest you have 3 alternatives.
Either level only by doing dungeons, then you can play holy priest.
Or level by questing and dungeons but not as a healer, then you can go for shadow.
Or, and this may be the most interesting thing: the discipline priest can do both, damage and healing. So if you want to quest and do dungeons as a healer at least until you get dual spec at level 30 this is the way to go.

I don't know much about how to play discipline priest but there are surely good guides around.

Thanks Cartman, that makes sense. The Character is now level 27 and the dungeons I have done so far I could heal so guess it will drop away later on.
I will go with the Discipline specialisation, idea is to do more dungeons with the priest.
My Panda (which you helped me out with before) did its first real dungeon at level 90, again other players were not to keen with my abilities.
Hard if you are not in a large group to help out.

Yeah, Shadow is a dps spec and not a healing spec, but it works great if you're just questing so that's why we recommend Shadow.

For Disc, I'm not sure if it's still the same with healing as it had been (haven't done any Disc dungeon healing in a long time) but it used to be that you'd shield the tank, maybe throw on a renew, and then use smite on the target to get the atonement healing to help. The trick with the Disc is that you can't focus solely on doing damage otherwise you just won't be able to keep up with the heals so you have to be good at swapping targets around so you can make sure you're supplementing the damage with the shields and regular heals.
