Those pictures you are showing are not a result of accepting more quests. The first one you are seeing a 2nd step that is a sticky step. A sticky step allows you to perform stuff for a future step while you're doing the current step. The sticky steps can be disabled in the settings.

The second picture you are showing is travel directions in the one step to make sure you're able to get to your destination. If memory serves me correctly you can click the little footprint icon on the right side of the guide viewer to hide those travel lines.

The option to disable the sticky step feature seems to have vanished since the guide options are integrated into the guide window.
