Auction House API 3 weeks and counting

The Gold section of the guide is the Primary reason i subbed to zygor how long do you expect this to be down for an honest answer please not the same old comment that has been trotted out time and time again.

Quote "With the release of patch 7.3.5, Blizzard has disabled the Auction House API which affects our Gold Guide trend and pricing data. As a result, you will need to visit an Auction House, select the Sell tab, and use the built in Scan feature to update your Gold Guide pricing data. Your trend data may show as out of date for the time being until Blizzard re-enables the API."

Should people be considering unsubbing from zygor because the service that had previously Developed, Advertised and Sold is no longer being supported. Has Zygor looked at other methods to get the server data to feed the trends.

We have to wait for Blizzard to finish the work they are doing on the AH API and bring it back up. This does not only affect us but other addons as well, such as TSM. We have no connections with Blizzard so we do not know how long it will take them. There is no other method for us to get the server data outside of the game without the AH API being up and running. Blizzard's own AH mobile phone app won't work because of the API being down. Blizzard has given no indication that the API will be down permanently and every indication from them is that they plan to bring it back up. If that changes then we will have to look at re-writing the AH section but this is not the first time Blizzard has had the API down for maintenance and probably won't be the last time they do this.

Thanks for the response that was insightful,

Have you considered collecting user submitted scan data per realm this could be a solution

add a line of code into the scan button that would upload the results to zygor that could then be collated and distributed.

Something like that isn't really reliable when compared to getting data every hour from the API. It would require everyone scanning the AH to have the desktop client running since that is what would have to upload it to us. Not everyone runs the client. If we had to change it around due to the API not coming back up then we'd probably have to re-write the logic behind the gold guide so that it would no longer be looking for historical data and just let base everything off of each user's scanned data.

First of all, I AM BACK!!

The AH API thread is located here:

          https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/...1046621?page=1

Long story short, skip to page 43... It's back up in limited fashion right now.
My avatar is an actual photo of me. Nice or ugly?

@Zygor Support - According to the attached WoW forum thread and confirmed with TSM, the API is back up and working. Any news on this front?

            Many thanks for everything!

As soon as the API came back up our system started getting the info. You should be able to use the client to update the data files so they no longer show as being a month old but since the API was down for so long there won't be any good and reliable data in the files for a bit. The historical data that we provide is a rolling 30 day average of the prices. Since we were unable to see any prices for the past 30 days we no longer have any averages. The files should start to have the historical averages in them in the next day or two but those averages probably won't be reliable since it would be an average price over a couple days instead of a few weeks. Since the gold guide uses the historical averages to know what a 'normal' price is I would personally recommend waiting at least a week or two (maybe wait for the beginning of March) before using the gold guide that way it will have more realistic and reliable averages in the data.
