This is an always debated topic. Best advice would be to do what you'd like to do because you need to enjoy your journey to max level. And with all the grinding that Blizzard has been putting in place at max level right now you'll probably get more enjoyment out of the leveling process so no need to rush it.

Although Belullar has some good guides, I found this to be a simpler, faster way to level; It's also a more recent release than Belullar's.

I recently got my Lightforged Draenei Warrior to 110 only by questing and it took 53 hours with full heirlooms, without doing any dungeons and without doing invasions between level 100 and 110.
I did the Eastern Kingdoms tour starting in Westfall up to Eastern Plaguelands and then went to Darkshore because I never quested that zone after Cataclysm.
From 60 to 80 I went to Northrend starting in the Tundra and then to Pandaria.

Before the zone scaling I needed about 68 hours from 1-110 with a Hunter including 3.5 hours from 1-20.
