Disappearing Guide Viewer

Hi,

I have experienced this twice now today. I have been using the guide without issues for several months.

Today, I logged into one character, made some items, shipped them off to another character.
By the time I'd logged in the other character the guide had disappeared from ingame.

NOTE: The notifications 'tab' is still at the top of the screen, it's JUST the viewer thats disappearing.

I reinstalled as per these instructions:

Try doing a full guide wipe/reset.

1. Exit WoW
2. Go to the WoW/Interface/Addons folder and delete the ZygorGuidesViewer folder
3. Go to the WoW/WTF/Account/<accountname>/SavedVariables folder and delete the Zygor files in there
4. Run the installer client and install a fresh copy of the guides
5. Go back in game and see if that fixed it

This did not solve my problem.

I repeated the steps here and 'uninstalled' the guide. I then reinstalled (into the location I used previously - although all files were deleted from the first installation of course) and the game still didnt have a viewer, nor a map button to get it to come up.

I checked it was 'on' in Add ons, and it didnt even show as existing in my add ons list. This was made extra weird by the fact that after I had reinstalled I used the 'Play' button on the windows Zygor client to start the game.

I uninstalled and deleted again (as per instrucions and 'uninstall')

I then re-installed into the default folder (program files) and this worked.

For a while.

This time the viewer disappeared after completing a dungeon guide, just poof.. went out and I am unable to get it back.

Whats even weirder is the viewer now works on my main character, but not on any alt (I have checked 3 but have more).

the first time round, it disappeared for everyone until I reinstalled as explained above.

NO IDEA whats going on here. This is very odd behaviour.

This sounds like it might be 1 of 2 possibilities. Either you are accidentally closing the guide viewer and not realizing it or another addon is interferring and causing it to not show. When it's missing are you able to type "/zygor show" without the quotes into the chat window and get the guide viewer to show up again?

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not closing it by accident no. I've been using it for months now and if I had a habbit of closing it accidentally I would certainly have noticed that happening already.

I also know its not me closing it because when you do absent mindedly close it, the mini map icon will bring it back 100% of the time.

As per my original post the viewer AND the minimap button just wink out of existence. although the tab for notifications is still there; so Zygor is definitely still 'running' as it were.

This has happened again since I last messaged, and a full uninstal, delete and re-install was required again to make it work.

As for add ons...

I use many, as most wow players do but I have changed none of them recently (although of course I do keep them up to date)

The day this happened however I was happily playing, had been playing for several hours (without issue) before this happened, and it happened between logging from one character to another.

Today, the guide seems ok again but I am getting some weird errors ingame (and a lua error from Zygor - sorry I didnt save it, I was in the middle of a fight!) I also had 'Interface action failed because of an add on' (which I have never seen before)

And upon turning in a quest, zygor freaked out in the viewer and the message 'you are not eligable for that quest' came up. Upon re-trying everything seemed ok.

As I've said, I've been using zygor for months without issue. I have not changed my add ons for some time (other than updates which I conceed 'could' cause issues) and i have never seen or experienced behaviour like this before.

It's unusual behaviour, for sure.

At the moment everything seems ok, I will keep you posted and try and catch further LUA errors if they occur.

When you've done the reinstall of Zygor have you wiped out the SavedVariables files for Zygor? If not you can find them in the WoW/WTF/Account/<accountnamehere>/SavedVariables folder.

Yes.. As per my first post in this thread and every time after that.

the problem has only happened one more time since my 'last' post and I've not had it since.

Well, if you're positive that you are not closing the guide viewer by mistake and you're positive it's a fresh install of the guide viewer and settings then the only thing it could be is interference by another addon.
