i only recieve lua errors when i load an guide from the professions

The profession guides need a complete re-write for the new way professions are handled in game. That will not happen until after BfA is released.

Unless you are leveling your character in the early zones along with leveling your professions, you can level your professions entirely in Legion. Some of the skills have their usual max ranks (the old levels were 75, 150, 225, etc - but those aren't the same now) which you will need to visit a trainer to raise the cap. Cooking is like that, if I recall.

The primary professions can be done without visiting a trainer unless you want to learn new recipes for completionist's sake, but otherwise you can go from 1 to whatever the new max is in one fell swoop.

That is no longer the case Myrroddin. The professions need a complete re-write because now each expansion has it's own leveling and does not affect other expansion's leveling. So now you can do 75 or 100 points of professions in the Legion zones to max out your Legion profession and all other expansions will still be at 0 skill.

Well, d'oh! Okay, given that information, then I'll amend my advice: if you are leveling a character from level 1, then do whichever you wish. Either level each expansion's tradeskills at the same time, or wait until you are in Legion and skip all the previous expansions.

Or if you are leveling 100-110 or you are switching professions in Legion, then just learn Legion tradeskills. Go for being complete afterwards.

I wasn't trying to give you a hard time Myrroddin, just wanted to make sure you were aware of the overhaul of the professions that came out last week.

Given your old format, such an answer as "The profession guides need a complete re-write for the new way professions are handled in game. That will not happen until after BfA is released." May have been an acceptable one, however given that these guides are funded with a subscription model, such as answer is exceedingly poor customer service, would you not agree?

I realise that with the best will in the world a full rewrite of the guides, including unreleased content would be a great challenge. However a methodical reworking of the guides, so they support CURRENT content is not an unreasonable ask, neither would it pose a major challenge. In fact it would aid you, in near future as there would less work to do!

So your reluctance to provide your advertised service, is a curious one. No?

No matter how we are paid, subscription or a one time payment, you could have easily said the same thing so the subscription model itself really has no bearing on your statement. All you had to do was say it is a paid service and it would have the same meaning. It has been stated several times on these forums that we are a very small company and as such we can only do so much in any given time. We would love it if we could just snap our fingers and have everything fixed and all guides ready for an expansion but in reality we can't just do that. We have to make choices on what we focus on to keep getting the guides out to you. In this case it is a choice of re-write the profession guides (leveling guides not ready in time for expansion launch), get the leveling guides ready for the expansion launch (professions re-write comes after), or work on both at the same time and have them both finished at some point after the expansion launch. And yes, it's easy to say "just hire more people" but that isn't possible if you want us to be able to continue to make guides and stay in business. We are not reluctant to provide the guides, just that they are not the highest priority right now. They will have their re-write when the manpower is available to do so.
