xerty, I was pretty tired last night when I saw this (it was late) but don't you still get the XP bonus at level 85 from the heirloom items? Right now the gear suggestions go on the assumption that you still get the XP bonus from heirloom items at 85 so that's why it was suggesting that you equip the heirloom.

There seems to be a great deal of confusion about the XP bonus at level 85. I haven't looked recently, but for ages nobody had an answer. The Heirlooms say levels 1-85; is that inclusive, or exclusive? After all, you are still level 85 right up until you ding 86...

And even at level 86 and beyond, the Heirlooms still work, but they no longer increase stats, and the XP bonus stops working. Does the guide tell you to equip less effective gear, replacing the Heirloom, once you hit level 86? I would hope not!

No, just that once you hit 86 the heirloom items no longer receive the boosted score for simply being an heirloom item. At that point it's treated just like any other piece of gear you might find.

Yes, heirloom items stop giving you xp bonus once you hit 85.
There is an easy test, which I tried last night. Go to a quest giver, check the xp reward. Take off or equip an heirloom items = xp reward does not change. So no xp bonus for lvl 85.
The same is true of the level 80 heirlooms which stop giving you xp once you hit 80.

Good test. Although that makes the Heirloom tooltips inaccurate. If they don't give XP bonus at level 85, they should read "levels 1-84". Silly Blizzard.

As for the level 80 Heirlooms, I've been upgrading them to their level 85 counterparts. The vendors are in the PvP/training dummy sections of Stormwind and Orgrimmar. The upgrades cost Justice Points plus the old Heirloom.

Yep. That's what I did too. Nice to get those extra few levels of xp boost from them.
I agree. Blizzard tooltips are poorly worded on so many occasions.

States "class specialization", but actually works off your loot specialization.

Ok, I'll make sure the team know that we're off by 1 level on that. We always thought that the last level you get the boost was 85.
