    Members Area

If I'm already logged into this forum (which required my password) and then try to enter the Members Area, why do I then have to re-enter my password redundantly?

For me, that means I have to:
    1. Plug in my external HDD
    2. Find my Zygor password file
    3. Copy the password
    4. Disconnect my external HDD
    5. Return to the forum again
    6. Paste the password which the Zygor forum should already know!

    Why?

Two separate websites, I expect, even if they do use the same authentication source. Why don't you tell your browser to store the password?

At one point the forum login and the Members Area login had been 2 separate accounts. We have since merged them but there are still some of those old accounts floating around so we have to keep the login for both areas separate.

While mzanker has a nice idea about letting the browser store the passwords, I personally use something called LastPass which will work on all browsers and stores all my passwords on a secure server so that I can access them from anywhere I might be. All I have to do is remember 1 'master' password for my LastPass vault which I can change at any time to help keep all my other passwords secure.
