If I want to break for gathering / crafting, do I just disable the guide and then go back to where I was and re-enable it when I'm ready, or just leave it running?

You can just leave it running, or if you'd rather not see it just use the Z icon in the top right to toggle the guide viewer visibility.My Flight Path Follies guide
