Draenor upgrade for Horde?

UPDATE 10/31/2014: I wanted to thank Zygor for adjusting your policy so that I could upgrade my account for $20 instead of effectively having to upgrade twice for $20 at $40 total -- I really appreciate your support and just purchased the upgrade because of the change. I will also continue to upgrade with Zygor for future expansions. Thank you very much!

You do not see the WoD upgrade yet because you have to upgrade your Horde guides to the MoP version first. Right now you only have the Cata (1-85) guides. After you upgrade to MoP (85-90) then you'll see the option to upgrade to WoD (90-100).

ps I don't need MoP and when I originally purchased Zygor the promise was all future updates. I remember the carfeful language when Cata came out by Zygor about the distinction, and it was indeed a whole lot of new work with the complete overhaul of the world and quests, but paying another $40 for WoD to upgrade my horde acct when it would only be $40 to upgrade from trial acct to WoD for Alliance is frustrating.

It's $20 to upgrade from Cata to MoP and then $20 to upgrade from MoP to WoD.

To be clear -- the price is $40, which is the same as it would be if I had never bought anything (because alliance would be $40 from a trial acct) -- Considering what was promised when I made my original purchase, that is disappointing

You were promised to get free updates for the guides you own. You own the 1-85 leveling guide and you will get any update that gets released for this guide.
However the 85-90 and 90-100 guides are new content so these are not updates but upgrades.

When Cata changed the whole 1-60 content every owner of the 1-60 leveling guide received the new 1-60 guides because a 1-60 leveling guide was what they paid for.

What was promised when you made your original purchase was free lifetime updates, and you still get those. Updates do not include adding new guides for newly added expansion content, updates include any changes needed in the guides to keep what you own working. When Cata came out everyone that already owned the guides (1-80 at the time) got a free complete re-write of all the 1-60 guides because that was required to keep the guides working and that was an update to those guides. Anyone that wanted the 80-85 content in Cata had to purchase the upgrade. The 80-85 content was new to the game because of the expansion (first time those levels and zones were in the game) so was not included in the lifetime updates, but the 1-60 content was not new (just changed) so that was included in the lifetime updates.

It certainly is your right to charge what you wish. But charging someone as much to upgrade ($40) as to buy it all fresh from the beginning ($40) doesn't inspire much customer loyalty, particularly because one of the upgrades isn't even one I want. If your business plan ultimately makes your company more money overall, then your business plan is a good one. I for one though am unlikely to buy any further products from Zygor.

I agree that if you don't have the Pandaria guides yet the upgrade price is a bit high.
I don't know if this double upgrade was neccessary in the past. If so, what happened to people that did not even buy the Cata upgrade.
Didn't at a certain stage everyone automatically get an upgrade to the previous content? Maybe someone from the Zygor team can look into this.

I would certainly pay $20 to upgrade to WoD. I bought the original guide and have paid to upgrade at least once and maybe twice along with some other products. I would certainly do that again.

There was a point when everyone received the Cata upgrade. This was due to changes we were making to our system to allow us to release our other guide products. It was a one-time only event simply because we had to for our new system and guides to be put in place. It will not happen again in the foreseeable future.

When you are purchasing the guide upgrades the system sees you as purchasing the 1-100 guides, not the 90-100 guides. There is no 90-100 product which means you can't have 1-85 and 90-100 guides while skipping the 85-90 guides. Basically the upgrade you purchase is a member's discount for the new full guide package. The Members Area will only show you the next expansion that you are missing, so if you only have the Cata version of the guides the next expansion is MoP. If you have MoP then the next expansion is WoD. If you only have the trial version then it shows you the latest full version.

As you say, what I am asking for is a member's discount to upgrade to the new full guide. The new full guide is WoD. The MoP version is no longer the new full guide. As a member, I would like a discount to upgrade to the new full guide. I should pay $20 to upgrade to the new full guide as a member not $40 (which is the price that a non member would pay).

I've explained how the system works. I'm not asking you to like how it works. I can't change the system. If you really want WoD for $20 then you'll just have to wait and catch one of our random 50% off sales so you can buy each upgrade at half price. Of course since the sales are random the next 50% sale might not be until after WoD has been released which would mean if you wait until then you'll no longer be eligible for the pre-order bonus Garrison guide and wouldn't have the guides for first day of WoD. The choice is yours.

I was under the impression "Lifetime Updates" meant I would never have to pay for another guide. I purchased this guide back in Cata and got MoP for free; so what's the deal? Deal-breaker for me, really disappointed.

Lifetime updates means you will never have to pay again to keep your guide working. It does not mean that it includes free guides for content that is added to the game after your purchase with an expansion. Your lifetime updates guarantee that your 1-90 guides that you purchased will always work with the game.

Also, you purchased your guides January 10th, 2013 which was after MoP was released so your guide purchase included the MoP version of the guides. The MoP guides were not free for you, you actually paid for them.
