Spires of Arak 279 - Securing Southport Issue

    Spires of Arak 279 - Securing Southport Issue

    Ran into my first issue with the Alliance guide.

    Spires of Arak step 279 wants me to get Talonprist Ishaal as a follower. I can't do that because that depends on the achievement "Between Arak and a Hard Place" being completed. I don't have that achievement completed because I am missing "Securing Southport".

    Some more info. I'm already level 100 and I chose the Smuggler's Den. I already went back to the beginning of the guide and fast-forwarded to make sure I didn't miss anything, I didn't.

    Any ideas? I don't want to pass up this follower.

      It might be a Blizzard issue. I know when I went thru Spires following the guide I had no problems with getting him as a follower. I don't remember which building I chose off hand.

        There's a LOT of people all over the Internet with problems getting this achievement so it could very well be a Blizz issue. Could you take a look at this though?

        I used Icy's remaining quest tool (http://www.icy-veins.com/wow/completed-quests-checker) and put in my main. (Realm: Elune. Character: Holybarrow)
        It gave me this list of remaining quests:
        1 Call of the Talon King 96
        2 Talon Guard Kurekk 96
        3 Talonpriest Ishaal 96
        4 Leorajh, the Enlightened 96
        5 Feast of the Spires 96
        6 Punishable by Death 96
        7 Attempted Murder 96

        12 We Have Him Now 96
        13 Wanted: Venombarb 96 (group)
        14 Cleaning House 96
        15 Befriending the Locals 96
        16 Not Here, Not Now 96
        17 The Shadows of Skettis 96
        18 Wanted: Keeho's Severed Paw 96 (group)
        19 Wanted: Spineslicer's Husk 96 (group)
        20 No Time to Waste 96
        21 Victory is Within Reach 97

        I then looked further at the Wowhead thread for the achievement (http://www.wowhead.com/achievement=8...place#comments). This quest chain is mentioned:
        Southport (14>)
        (15). Orders, Commander? *From this point is Inn quest line
        (16). Befriending the Locals
        (16>17). A Lack of Wasps
        (17>18). Not Here, Not Now
        ...


        My first assumption was that these quests are part of the Brewery chain and didn't apply to me since I chose Smuggler's Den. But maybe these quests aren't Brewery specific? I went down this thread because someone else missing the achievement didn't have 'Not Here, Now Now' completed. Maybe an older version of the guide included Not Here, Not Now (and maybe others)?

          Try looking at this one(http://www.wowhead.com/achievement=8...nts:id=1994787) that doesn't have the breadcrumb quests (Not Here, Not Now) or the optional quests. I can see that you haven't done The Shadows of Skettis which is accepted on step 3 of the guide. And really you shouldn't have been able to do the follow up quests in that chain without this one so since the others aren't listed in your missing quests it looks like you did do the quest chain but for some reason Blizzard didn't flag this particular quest properly for being completed which is keeping you from getting that achievement.

            Wow. This is even more bizarre then. 'The Shadows of Skettis' is listed under the 'Shadows Gather' storyline. I just double-checked my achievements page. I have 'Shadows Gather' checked off.



            Clearly there's a disconnect between what Icy Veins is pulling, what Blizzard has me recorded as completed, and what I actually did complete.

            I need to escalate my ticket with Blizz because first line support told me there's no problem and to go read wowhead.

              Try using the addons Wholly and Grail while in game to see if in game it reports the Shadows of Skettis as not complete.

                I won't have time today, but tomorrow I'm going to do the breadcrumb quests I'm missing and see what happens.

                  I don't know if they fixed the bug for everyone or just me since I put in a ticket, but I have the achievement and follower now. Thanks for helping me out even though it wasn't a guide issue.
