Waypoints not working with V.2.0

Waypoints have always been a problem for me. The arrows show - the arrows don't show. I just installed V.2.0 in the hopes that my troubles would be gone. Alas, waypoints still don't work properly. I've been through install/ uninstall/ etc... multiple times, all with the same result. Sorry I'm not a LUA expert so I can't immediately tell what is wrong. Without waypoints, the guide is of little use to me and as such, I haven't been using it. :-( Anybody have any ideas that don't involve removing all of other addons (sorry, not gonna go there) ?

The work around is to enter the configuration, disable cartographer 2, exit, reload (enter message "/rl"), reenter the configuration, reenable cartographer 2, exit. EVERYTHING works GREAT, until I change toons or the next time I want to play.

Have I done something wrong? Maybe I need to tweek a setting, slip a tenner to the right guy, I dont know. I do NOT want to blame anyone, I just want it to work correctly.

and I really do like the changes I've seen in the new release. Great work guy's. You really make it fun to try to work in a new toon, or just to try one "This Way". I know that with your guide I can have them up and usable in no time. THANKS

Make sure every Cartographer addon is checked. Cartographer has a Waypoint addon included. I have every addon checked in the Cartographer section. Of course, I also have the very latest Cartographer, which may have an extra addon or two that makes the waypoint arrow work every time.

Problem fixed...

Turns out my problem here was in one of the global variables set in my user profile. Something in V2 is not compatible with previous versions of Cartographer. The fix was to delete my user profile under the WTF directory and then reatart the GUI. I then reinstalled all of my other addons with no further problems. I don't like the sledgehammer approach to fixing the problem, but at least I have things working again.

To fix it I deleted the Cartographer and ZygorGuidesViewer lua files from the World of Warcraft/WTF/Account/<ACCOUNT NAME>/SavedVariables folder.

After deleting it, everything worked fine.

I do not have any errors as the game starts or during the game. And for what ever reason, the workaround does work every time. If I were having an add-on problem, or any other I can think of, why would the "/rl" reload work?? It "MUST" (if I really knew I would not be asking for help, hehe)be in my settings but I've changed eveything I can think of to no avail.

I will try the sugestions listed below and report back.

Failed to connect to Cartographer 2.

I've tried all these steps suggested. Nothing. I owned the previous version which was working fine. I installed this (paid for the new version, though I'm sure I didn't have to) and not able to get it to work. The only error is as reported. I've tried disabling all my addons except the ones for the guide and the error still doesn't show and the error above does once loaded into the game.

I would like to reiterate a point. Nothing changed BUT the new version of the guides. I dumped those and went back the the original and it worked fine. Except now I have to relocate the step my alts were on as it's gone.

Starting a new character seems to work ok (only checked the orc starting area). It's when I'm trying to set it to an existing alt (say in Outlands for lvl 62-64.)

Have you tried using Tom Tom instead of Cartographer with the new Zygor version? I haven't seen anyone really complaining about issues with Tom Tom yet so that might be something to think about.

Also, there's a new update to the guides, version 2.0.560, which might solve the issue for you.

Just saw a post from someone else who had this problem and found out they didn't have waypoints enabled in Cartographer which prevented Zygor from connecting. Double check that.

Firstly Zygor Guides should include the LATEST version of Cartographer or else not include it period and instead pop-up a link to the cartographer website. Which is http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-a...tographer.aspx btw.

Also, Cartographer_QuestInfo isn't included as part of the default Cartographer Addon any longer and has been updated repeatedly since the version was packed into the Zygor Installer, unless Zygor Guides needs that extra addon functionality I strongly suggest that it be updated and repacked into the installer or else just deleted.

I use Curse Client Version 4 to keep all my addons up to date and I suggest you all do the same.

Try disabling all addons except for Zygor Viewer, Zygor Talent Advisor, Cartographer, Cartographer Waypoints, and Cartographer Notes. If you don't get the error anymore with just these 5 addons running then it means one of the other addons you're using isn't playing well with Cartographer. If this is the case enable one addon at a time again until you can find out which one is causing the error.

It has been stated before that the guides aren't designed for the new version of Cartographer (think the new one is v3.0). This is the reason that the older version is packed with the guides. The guides only make use of Cartographer, Cartographer Notes, and Cartographer Waypoints, but I'm sure that due to distribution clauses that the whole, original Cartographer needs to be packed with the guides. I wouldn't be surprised that the QuestInfo portion was still on Zygor's harddrive from a year ago or more when the guides were originally created.

As for the Curse Client, it's only able to update addons that are uploaded to Curse, and there are a ton of great ones that aren't there.
