Threads marked as read

I noticed that sometimes when I read all of the posts in a forum then go back to the main forum the little flag, to the left of the forum list, sometimes stays marked as unread posts. The only way to remove the flag is to into the forum and "mark all posts as read" even though there are not any posts left unread.

We're not really sure why this happens just yet, it has alluded us for quite some time.

Something with Vbulletin. Happens on other forums I go to built with this forum software.

That did it. What did you change? I have mod access on a VBulletin board and would love to fix that one.

The problem was that it was using user based cookies to remember things instead of database thread reading. To change this go to following section of the admin panel:

VBulletin Options, General Settings, Thread/Forum Read Marking Type

Switch it to: Database (automatic forum marking)

So far it is fixed for me as well. Thanks for looking into it. I know it was a minor thing ... it was just something I found annoying
