Instead of downloading the entire guide every time, how about just releasing the bit that changed within the guide itself (providing it's a step change and not a change in code)?

What do you mean exactly? Recently our updates have included updates to the code AND small tweaks to the guide.

I think he might be referring to instead of having a full install every time there's an update maybe have a second link that's just a patch of changed files (i.e. no need to download Cartographer over and over again). I can see where this might be useful for someone still on a dial up connection but for most broadband users the download only takes 1min tops and really shouldn't be an issue.

That's what I meant and why it's a suggestion If there is no code changes but only changes to the guide itself, to only release the guide changes.

An example would be:

Download version 2.0.56 Viewer
Download version 2.0.99 Guides

That way if the actual guide change, we can just download the new version quick. If the code changes, we can just download that quick.

If BOTH changes, the normal link to download will still be there

But cartographer hasn't - could save you some stress on the server and make it faster for people to download updates if you had a "no cart" version.
