I'm at 73 right now with my hunter, still BM and still do very well in the random normal dungeons. Most times I'm 2nd on damage output and have even once been first on damage output. With this in mind I'd say you probably don't have to worry about switching specs until you get to the point of wanting to do heroics and raids. My Flight Path Follies guide

BM is tops for leveling and DPS until lvl 80 when explosive shot comes into play under survival spec. *foo!*"The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas."

Honestly it's not always about the spec but about knowing how to play your class. I've been able to out damage mages, Ret pallies, DKs, pretty much any class, with my BM spec simply because they didn't know how to play their class. My Flight Path Follies guide

That is true with every class. I have seen awesome pally tanks and I have seen ones where they can't keep aggro if I am only using my wand. It takes more then a $5,000 toon bought off the Internet equipped with all ICC 25 man equipment to make a good player.
You don't see me out there in Nascar trying to beat the other drivers with my awesome left handed turns do ya? There is a reason for that

I have been BM spec since since i started my hunter (a long time ago) and i find it is fine in Heroics/raids even at lvl 80.
If you are happy with a spec, and it works for you, stick with it. Don't change just because it "might not" be the best dungeon spec. Stick with what you are comfortable with and you will do fine. Ignore the DPS meters. They are only a guide and don't mean a lot. If you are pulling your weight that is all that matters.

Well, you CAN tell if you're pulling your weight by the DPS meters... Especially if your class is DPS... If you're not doing good DPS you're not pulling your weight. Granted, GS doesn't tell you the direct amount of DPS you're going to do, but your DPS does tell you if you're pulling your weight.
If you're a healer or tank and you're topping the DPS meter... That might be a problem.
