I have also lost all audio in the game, have tried many, many different things, no success. I'm wondering if this error is related to that.

The error shouldn't have any effect on your audio. There has been a little success with going into the AddOns directory and deleting the Blizzard_TalentUI folder to force WoW to put in a fresh copy. This will sometimes fix the LUA error you're seeing, but not guaranteed. I couldn't begin to try to guess why you're having an audio problem.

same issue

hey i have had the same issue since 4.0.6 not sound related but the error msg comes up every time i log in or do anything (mount, dismount, attack etc) iv tried deleteing the talent ui from the addons folder but no luck... anyone got any sugggestions?

Try updating the guides again. The team think they have it fixed now.
