Strange route calculation

I've noticed that the route calculated is very strange sometimes.

Example
I'm a mage in Ironforge and I need to get to my Garrison, this is quickly done using my Garrison hearthstone but this is the route given

- Teleport to Exodar
- Portal to Stormwind (I am a Mage so why not teleport straight here?!?)
- Portal to Stormshield (I am a Mage so I could have teleported straight here?!?)
- Portal to Lion's Watch
- Fly to Lunarfall

This was during the Winter Veil daily's guide.

Funnily enough, same thing happened to me yesterday whilst going to my garrison but as I had to rush off, didn't have time to post/report it.

I was intrigued by the route when it said "Teleport to Exodar" so I just had to follow to see where it went, normally I'd just use the Garrison Hearthstone

The next time you notice this please let us know which guide and step number you are on as well as where you are standing at the time.

I'm currently in Stormwind outside the Keep with Garrison Campaign guide open on step 11 - Talk to Nixxie (The Broken Precipice). Rather than telling me to use the Garrison Hearthstone, it's telling me to cross Stormwind to the Mage Tower, to use the portal to Ashran.

Which time line are you attuned to with Chromie?

Not attuned to any on this character... currently level 60 Shadowlands.

I have the required flight path to fly directly there but it's telling me to go back to Bastion, then use the pad etc. The path is not affected whether the slider is set to speed or comfort. Not sure, as I don't know what factors are taken into account with routes but the suggested one seems a little longwinded.

If you right click on the arrow you should be able to see the full route that it thinks is the fastest to compare that to what you think it will take time-wise to fly there.
