When should I sell? When status is yellow or green?

So I was curious, when an items show up on the resale list on the addon, is it's status then downwards red arrow (Price is down)? When I buy them all they become yellow after a new scan, meaning prices are normal. Is this a result of me buying out the underpriced items? And these items should I post them right away while the status is Yellow or wait for it to get and upwards green arrow? I have tried waiting for green arrow but things don't sell, even if the guide says the items are popular trade goods. I would suspect POPULAR trade goods would sell. But, you know, it could be a factor that I posted the auctions on 4-5 am :P

Yes, your understanding of how the auction house flipping works is correct. Prices were considered low - hence a deal - and you bought the low ones out, thus bringing prices back up to the normal range. Waiting for it to turn green isn't needed. Yellow means prices are normal and the market is stable for this item. Green just means you can make even more, but it's better to let that happen naturally.

That being said, Auctions is the least predictable and involves the most chance of our 5 methods, so while we provide as much information as we can to help you make good buying decisions it's possible some of the suggestions will take a while to sell.

What exactly does the red dot mean? The tooltip says the price is "unstable" or some similar word. Occasionally when I search for the item none is available at the AH. Is it generally a good idea to sell with the red dot?

Normally you do not want to sell with the red dot, but this is a suggestion and if you think it's a good idea to try to sell then do so. Right now the red dot can mean that prices are outside the normal range, or it could mean that the market for that particular item is stale meaning there haven't been any real changes to the item listings in a while. So if there have been no listings in a while and you have some to list it might think that it's not good since there were no sales.

Think of the dots like a traffic light, red is stop, yellow is caution, and green is go. But also remember these are just to help you in making your decisions on when to list things.

The way I see it "Red" should always mean "don't sell". Often the green armor/weapons I try to sell are marked with a red dot. If I try to look up the item, none are at the auction house. That would be a case where I think Zygor's Gold Guide should mark it "green".

It probably marked it red because none had been seen in a while causing the data to show a 'stale' market for the item and it will be red in that situation.

Is there a way to add a tooltip that shows how many are currently seen on the AH? That way even if something is showing red we can see that there are none up and decide to take a chance without the need for a specific search on that item.

Right now that information is not available on the tooltip.
