I started 2 New Characters. A Troll Priest, and a Blood Elf Priest. In both the guide tends to advance to the next step before I have accepted the quest. As soon as the details of the quest are show by the NPC the guide moves on as if you had already accepted the quest.

Guide Advancing before quest accepted

This is a Blizzard thing in the starting areas. Blizzard made it that as soon as you talk to an NPC it automatically accepts the quest and the guide monitors your quest log to know when you've accepted a quest. Since Blizzard has you automatically accept the quest upon talking to the NPC it goes into your log right away and the guide sees you as having accepted the quest and goes to the next step. This behavior is only in the level 1-6 area and once you've gotten past that and moved on it goes back to normal. My Flight Path Follies guide
