Here is a fast suggestion to improve these achievement guides. The same trick can be done with the One Man's Trash... series.

Have the guide check for IsQuestFlaggedCompleted() to see if any of the steps were completed prior to install or use of the guide. I started the guide with 10/18 steps done, yet the guide had me running all over Pandaria even though those 10 items are flagged complete and cannot be looted. The flag is per character.

It would be great if the guide detected what steps I had completed and skipped to the next ones in the chain.

That said, the guide worked and in short order (other than some unnecessary stops) I now have the achievement.

Interesting, so Blizzard implemented some internal quests to those things.
I think the Zygor guide currently will advance if you still have the item in your inventory.

I tested this with success on the "another man's treasure" guide.
After every collect or click I inserted the following:
|q xxxxx |future
That way the whole step content will still be shown so it is possible to go back to complete steps to farm the items again (for disenchanting, selling or because you need more than one), which would not be possible if the whole step gets a |only if not completedq(xxxxx) switch.
