Can't open Updater

I have the .jar file on my desktop, and when clicking on it to run, it opens in the sense that it appears in my taskbar with the little Z icon, and i can right click it to see the context menu. Each link in the context menu works (update, open log and exit) apart from Open. It does nothing. Nothing shows up on screen, nothing changes. Clicking the .jar again it gives me the error that Zygor is already running. It is opening using the Java SDK, and just sits in my taskbar being unhelpful.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Java, and deleted and redownloaded the updater .jar file.

Try right clicking on the .jar file and Open with the Java SE Platform. If you get the message about it already being running then kill the Java.exe process in your Task Manager. If you need more detailed instructions just let me know.

This is something I have already tried, as I found similar advice on another forum post. It was already being opened by the Java Platform, but I went through the process anyway, with the same result. It just sits in the taskbar.

Whenever I get the message about already being open, I kill the Zygor process, and the Java platform process, repeat the stepsto open by right clicking, and again it just opens to my taskbar and sits there. Every time I right click the icon and choose open from the menu, it does nothing and will not display the updater.

I have also un-installed Java completely, and re-installed from their website. Version 7 update 55.

Is there any downloadable software I can use to generate some kind of logfile that would help identify anything for you? I am using Windows 8.1 btw.

It is very frustrating as before the update to merge WoW and ESO into one updater, it all worked perfectly.

Have you tried re-starting the computer?

You can find a log file in your C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Zygor\log folder. It would be the one with the highest number. I would recommend emailing it in to us at support@zygorguides.com.

Any progress on this? i emailed the log file in, which apparently got sent to the client programmer, but have heard nothing since. The problem still exists for me.

Try it now with the updated client. The client should at least open now for you at the very least. Let me know if you have further issues and I'll look into it more.

Hi there,

Some slight progress. When I opened the .jar file it downloaded an update, and now the taskbar icon sits next to the icons of other programs I have open (which is new). but unfortunately the program window still does not show on screen.

This morning the thing got itself a new version and boot got as far as the would you like a short cut to the client
Not realizing you were asking for a short cut to your client I clicked on the magnifiing glass to change it from the desktop to the location of the game but found that the thing was unresponsive to any input

Quitting boot let me relaunch and I could then answer no and get to the new client 20725 but clicking on the magnifing glass icon will freeze things

by the way I have never been able to get your cline to run on my main gaming machine a mid 2006 Mac Pro running 10.7.5
we spent 2 weeks in april trying lots of things with your support but gave up and now do the manual update thing the problem remaines the same trying it today for the first tim in weeks got me

have you tried running "java -jar ZygorGuidesClient-5.jar" via the terminal? (In the correct working directory of course)

We know it's inconvenient but we would really like to figure out why it's not working for you. We want all our customers to be able to use the client.
