Using the guide with a semi leveled toon

Hi,

i have heard great things about the WoW and Wildstar guides so i decided to give you guys a shot on ESO as i am finding it very (very) slow at levelling and not really sure why.

i have installed the add on for my lvl 12 elf however the add on starts me at a level 4 quest (i completed a while ago) and i dont appear to be able to jump to my current level / quest.

Clearly i am not a massive way away from level 16 ie the next area but it would be good if i could use the add on before this?

I didnt realise there was issues with npc id's etc but without wasting more time can i get the add on to recognise my level and send me to quests from there or should i just use it from level 16 when i enter a new zone (and then i have to follow it to the letter and cannot deviate?) or am i missing something ?

nearing mid November iI was wondering what progress on this problem has been made i had to stop playing at the end of may due to computer hardware issues and i am picking up the game again wit 8 toons between 7 and 12 now that i have a nice new 5k retina 27" iMac (and yes it looks even better than i thought it would in my work with photoshop on it)

Right now what you'll want to do is first go into your game Controls settings and you should find a Zygor section in there. Set a hotkey for each of those 3 settings to make working with the guide viewer easier. Now resume the game and use your period key (.) to free up the mouse. Click on the drop down arrow on the guide viewer and select the guide that would cover your level (i.e. if you're level 9 load up the 6-16 guide). Once you've done that open your map then use that first hotkey to make the guide viewer visible again if it vanished. Now use the hotkey for advancing the guide to run thru the steps fast while watching the X on the map dance around. Once that X is close to where your quest markers are start going slowly thru the steps looking at each one. When you recognize a step you had just done for questing then you're close enough that you can start following the guide from there. You still might have to skip some steps for a little due to not having picked up a quest or already having done a quest but it won't take too long to finish getting in sync at this point.

We are working on a system that will basically do this all for you and we should have it released soon but until then this manual method is the only way.

The work on a way for the guide viewer to get you in there like that has hit some roadblocks. The biggest one being that Zenimax keeps making minor quest text changes with every patch which keeps breaking the database we built for quest tracking. It would be easy if Zenimax had a proper quest ID system but we've had to create our own and every small change to the quest text breaks our database. Right now that manual method is the best way to do it.
