Gear suggestion bug

The gear guide looks at everything before making a suggestion. It does not however look at things like gems and enchants so the added stats from those normally do not count for anything. I also don't know what your class/spec is, but it's highly likely that the added Int, Crit, and Haste is better than the small loss of Mastery which isn't as important as other stats for some specs.

I know I'm still riding this but I'm still not comfortable. My druid is wearing the Horseman's Ring from the holiday dungeon. It's ilevel 540 and gearing guide rates it a 13 for balance druid. The stats are thus:

40 Int
61 Stam
24 crit
29 haste

By replacing this ring with Zygor's recommendation, a 429 Immaculate Ring of the Undertow which is also rated a 13 by Gearing Guide, I will gain 11 spirit (not a stat used by my build), I will be losing 23 int, 18 haste, 24 crit and 35 stam. Here are the stats on the 429 ring.

17 int
26 stam
11 hast
11 spirit

So, still thinking the gear guide is not reliable. I could see this as maybe possible if she was resto, but she's not and that's a pretty big hit to take everywhere else just for 11 spirit which I could get from a food buff.

When you are in game and you open the guide selection window (small drop down arrow on guide viewer) what does it display in the lower left for the version number?

Had to double check because there's no reason why it should have made that suggestion for a balance druid. Can you try running the Zygor client and use the wrench icon to reinstall the guides, then see if it still tries to give this suggestion? Just want to make sure an old file isn't still there messing with the suggestions.

That's an awfully huge hit to take to stack mastery when her main stat is int.
