Gear suggestion bug

There seems to be some issues with the gear selection built into the quest guide since the stat decrease. This was suggested for my level 72 death knight. The piece that it suggested i use was Int/spirit/haste, for a death knight? I have notice some other strange things when suggesting gear as well, but this one seemed to take the cake.

What spec were you when you had this happen? What does the guide selection window display for the version number?

I have 13 90's and another bunch of lesser leveled and I'm noticing the same thing in a wholesale fashion. It's so bad I've disabled the gearing guide on everything. The stats the come up for the plus don't at all match what the armor has.

Siofral, can you please give us an example of what you mean? We would need to know what spec you play and the two item names.

Here's a classic. I have a 90 windwalker troll. She's got equipped two (dual wield obviously) 476 Blazeguard, Reborn. The stats are
101-189 damage
+17 Agility
+26 Stamina
+12 Critical Strike
+12 Haste

In her bag she has a trash drop 429 strength weapon (polearm). Gear Guide wants me to replace my two epic weapons perfectly suited to the windwalker build with this green piece of trash because it thinks I'll gain 32 strength, 21 haste, 21 master, 48 stamina and 57.6 damage per second. Of course she won't gain any of that because the single weapon recommendation is replacing two weapons that are not only more suited to the build, but together do better dps.

So my TWO weapons together -

202-378 damage
32 agil
52 stam
111.54 dps
24 crit
24 haste

versus the green trash drop

+32 strength (not a stat she uses)
-32 agil (the stat she DOES use)
-4 stam
-53.94 dps
-4 haste
-4 mastery

Does that clarify things for you?

And because I declined to equip the woefully unsuitable polearm, it's now telling me to equip a trash drop 403 fist weapon. Oy. See why I turned it off? AND it wants me to equip a 496 cloak with zero upgrades instead of my 550 celestial cloak. And my 539 timeless gloves for my 553 celestial drop gloves.

I don't know what's going on but I have to vet EVERY recommendation and when I'm in a raid or fighting a boss, the last thing I want to do is have gear guide popping totally unsuitable suggestions at me one after another.

For the gloves it says I'm going to gain 80 stamina when my 550 cloak has 92 stamina. It's doing the same thing with every single stat. It looks like the guide is not reading the stats of the equipped armor and weapons. It's like the armor equipped has no stats so ANYTHING in the bag that can be equipped in that slot is read as better.

When you open the guide selection window in game (small drop down arrow on guide viewer) what does it display in the lower left corner for the version number?

4.0.10523 I keep upgrading hoping that whatever this is will be fixed. So far . . . no joy.

Try running the client and updating again. This was fixed and the current version is 4.0.10561.

I'm running 4.0.10561 and have this bug

It has just suggested replacing my iLevel 540 Horrific Horseman's head on my DK with an ilevel 232 Frostforged Ringhelm. Only thing I can think that's possibly confusing it is that I am soloing old content and in blood spec with my unholy gear, but still based on the armour value alone (112 vs 61) I would have thought the i540 better. I never ran into these problems before the squish.

Oh and now it's just done it with the Nemesis Skullcover which is cloth intellect gear and obviously not a suitable gear choice for a DK whatever their spec

Can you please post a screen shot of the suggestions. I'm unable to find any Horrific Horseman's head item that has a 540 ilvl to work on figuring out what's happening.

Ah yes, that would have meant you had an older version in the live server game and that had a bug in the gear suggestions. Glad it was just a simple mistake.

versus the recommended replacement of Fire-Chanter Shoulders of the Fireflash (496)

56 int (+20 shoulder ench)
54 stam
28 crit (+5 shoulder ench)
23 haste

Lost 27 mastery to gain 6 int, 5 crit, 9 stam and 13 haste.

So my question is . . . Does the gear guide look at all the items and calculate what is best based on what is available/equipped before making a recommendation? Or does it just look at that single item?
