I'm finding that the gearing guide not factoring in existing gems (or possible gems?) is really a handicap. Are others finding the same?

The picture you posted there is a correct suggestion according to the stat weights we use. Mastery and Haste have a higher weight than Multistrike and Versatility so they are able to just slightly (2510 vs. 2526) out-weight the 10 Int loss making the purple sandals the correct suggestion.

Again, this is correct based on the stat weights we use and you may or may not agree with them.

That may be the case but the loss of int makes it not a good swap given the gems in the equipped piece. That's where the guide fails. By not taking into account the value of the existing gems and enchants, it cannot possibly give proper weight to the comparison.

I'm not following you. The treads that you have equipped in that last picture have no sockets on them and they do not have any enchants. The item it suggests to replace has a +11 Mastery enchant on it which I didn't even include in the number calculations. If I included that then it would be another 198 on the score to make it 2510 vs. 2724. While Int is good for increasing your base damage it's not always going to win out over other stats that can help increase your dps. As I said, you may not agree with the weights we use but according to our weights the sandals are the better item compared to those treads.

i have the same problem... gear system is not working good enough...

I'm playing a destro warlock and the gear system replaces gear what is not better then what i already have...

We just released new stat weights today that should be a lot closer weight system to places like Noxxic or AskMrRobot in style. There is now more emphasis on the main stats when compared to the secondary stats. I think you will find it much better.
