Demand Value. What does it mean?

Lets say you scan the AH and then go to the farming tab on the gold guide. If you hold shift and hover over an item you get more details about the item. What does the demand number represent?

I've seen items at a lower value in green (good) and some with a higher number but in red (bad).

Could someone clarify what these numbers mean?

Demand is a rough estimate of the number of daily sales for that item. Let me just emphasize that, rough estimate. The AH API does not tell addons which auctions were bought and which ones were cancelled/expired so we can only try to guess at which ones sold based on how much time the item had left the last time we saw it and if there were any other new listings of the same amount. The Demand value is there to give you an idea of how fast or slow you might be able to sell it. So the lower the Demand number means it will take longer to sell and you might have to relist it a few times and if it's a high Demand number it's an item that moves a lot each day so a better chance of selling it quickly.

As I said the number indicates our best estimate of how many of that item actually sell in a day.

is there an option for zygors to do a real time scan on the auction house so you get a better estimate on that "demand" value?
if you could permanently scan the ah say, let your acc run ah scan permanently for 24 hours, that demand value would give me much clearer number since it would be possible to atleast differentiate between expired auctions and actual sold auctions (given the posibility that people cancel auction which i think is kinda low, most people dont cancel)

We already do this to the extent allowed by Blizzard for the retail servers. That is the trend data that the client downloads.
