Bad gear suggestion for Vengeance Demon Hunter

I have Unbridled Fury equipped, and Zygor tried to suggest Sashj'tar Brooch would be an upgrade.

The random enchants on the brooch are:

• 643 Intellect
• 643 Versatility

Just in terms of iLevel, (850 vs 680) this would be a horrible suggestion, but on top of that, Vengeance and Havoc Demon Hunters would never use Intellect. We use Agility.

I understand that Versatility is worth more than Critical Strike, but that is still not an upgrade in any way, shape, or form

When you see something like this next time try Shift + click on the Decline button (believe that was the combo) and it should give a bug report for just the gear suggestion that you can post. This will help to see what the system is trying to do with the stat weights.

Okay, I'll see if I still have the green item to test. Don't want to have to play for hours, days, possibly weeks before I get another situation like this, mainly because this is the first time I've had a bad upgrade suggestion.

Unfortunately this is an issue of the gear system giving a correct suggestion but it appears to be bad due to the ilvl difference. In the game ilvl does absolutely nothing for your character except make you eligible to enter certain dungeons and raids with the LFR tool. You can accomplish that by simply carrying the needed ilvls in your bags (unless they recently changed that). When it comes to damage output and survivability the only thing that matters are the stats and in this specific instance the 643 Versatility is far more valuable than the 932 Crit. The Int on the item is being scored 0 so that is not playing any role in the suggestion.

That, I understand

The gear suggestion doesn't seem to account for the on-use of the higher item. There is a setting in Zygor that might help, but it says it is experimental. Want me to try it and see what happens?

You can try it if you want but I wouldn't put too much stock into any scores for on-use items because the benefit they provide is always situational. I've personally always disabled any on-use item scoring with any gear system and just looked at the two items to determine which on-use would be more valuable to me with my play-style and then decide if that would out-weigh any stat improvements.
