In order to run safe, inviting, and enjoyable message boards, we ask that you obey these simple rules.
Failure to follow the rules listed below will result in being banned from the community.
Accounts
You can change your displayed name if you are unhappy with your original choice. Usernames, profile information, signatures, and any other data deemed unacceptable will be changed or removed by a moderator. Accounts will not be deleted, but you may request yours to be deactivated by contacting us.
Advertising
Using Zygor Guides to actively promote or advertise any other website or guide is not allowed. Discussion of other guide companies and/or their products/services is strictly forbidden.
Copyrights
Do not post copyrighted material without permission. This includes magazine scans, articles/editorials not written by you, and anything else that is not in the public domain.
Flaming, Bashing, and Trolling
Don't antagonize other members. Everyone enjoys a good debate, but keep it respectful. No one cares about your personal vendettas. If a thread is causing problems, it will be locked. Disruptive members may be banned without warning.
Getting Help
We have a number of resources set up for getting help. For information on how to use the message boards software, check the help files. For information about new features, downtime, or any other notices, check the Announcements forum. You can also find a helpful FAQ here. If none of these helps, you are free to either 1) post a new thread in the Feedback and Issues forum (if it's a public concern) or 2) contact us directly (if it's a private concern).
Account Hijacking
Locally or remotely accessing someone else's account or attempting to access another member's account is strictly prohibited.
Jurisdiction
In the event that you find a member that may have posted something in the wrong area, or is mistaken in the content of his/her posts, please report the mistake instead of posting about it in the thread and potentially worsening the problem. It is encouraged that members try to continue on with discussions as best they can instead of making sure that everybody else is following the rules, and let the moderators handle the logistics of posting.
Legal Stuff
The boards are not allowed to be used as a basis for any type of legal or binding agreement, including contracts or monetary transactions. If you want to buy or sell something, please do it elsewhere.
Off-Topic Posts
Please stay on topic and post in the appropriate forum. Off-topic posts may be moved at any time by a moderator.
Personal Information
For your own security, personally-identifying information may not be disclosed either publicly or privately on Zygor Guides. This includes your full name, home address, phone number, social security or credit card numbers, or anything else that may adversely affect your privacy. Entering other information such as servers you play on, character names, Instant Messaging handles, ect. should be done only at your own risk. Zygor Guides takes no responsibility for any information you submit.
Piracy
Don't post links to places where people can download our products for free. Any discussion of and/or links to these types of websites is strictly prohibited. If you wish to inform us of places where piracy of our products is occurring, please contact us here. Sharing the guide within a single household is fine. Sharing the guide with contacts outside of ones home is a violation of our policies. Any discussion about sharing our products, pirating our products, or how to get Zygor Guides products for free is strictly prohibited. Reselling our guides on ebay is also illegal and subject to penalty under the law.
Questionable Content
Any topic or post that is abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, racist, sexist, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, drug or alcohol-related, invasive of a person's privacy or that otherwise violates any law or encourages conduct constituting a criminal offense is strictly prohibited on the boards. Any form of nudity, suggestive material, or excessive violence is strictly prohibited. Board moderators and administrators have the full right to decide what is and isn't appropriate.
Security
It's highly recommended that members change their passwords every now and then to prevent account hijacking.
Altering or changing Zygor Guides code and/or exploiting code bugs for purposes other than what the message boards were intended to do is strictly prohibited. On a similar note, using automatic scripts on any part of Zygor Guides is also not permitted. Hacking, altering board code, exploiting code bugs, intentionally circumventing system safeguards, and using automatic scripts of any kind are all grounds for an immediate and permanent ban. If you discover a problem with the boards or its security, report it to an administrator immediately by submitting by contacting us here.
Spam
Purposely spamming a message board with senseless, vacuous, or empty messages is highly frowned upon! Therefore, a 10-character minimum post length requirement has been set up, and any attempts to circumvent this can lead to a higher warning level or temporary ban.
"Spam" includes such things as party posts, chain letters, very short "I agree" or "me too" responses, continually posting the same topic, and posting the same post or topic across multiple forums. Topics or posts which have no redeeming value for discussion are also considered spam.
Spoilers
If you are going to post a spoiler, label your post as such, and use the [ spoiler ] tag where appropriate. If you don't, your post may be edited or deleted.
User Signatures
Signatures are limited to 5 lines of text with up to 100 characters per line, and additionally one image with a maximum size of 100KB, and maximum dimensions of 600 pixels wide by 125 pixels tall.
Signatures must not contain anything that violates the TOS or anything that links to a web page that violates the TOS.
Images should not blink rapidly or be annoying in some other way. Do not set the font size to anything larger than 5 or use other BBcode commands such as centering to make your signature visually distracting.
Any signature content we deem inappropriate or unnecessary will be deleted.
Any image that is posted near or at the end of the majority of a user's posts is considered to be a "fake" signature; this bypasses the board's built-in signature function, and is not allowed.
Other
These rules extend to all areas of the Zygor Guides message boards, including but not limited to private messages, signatures, submitted contact inquires, and profile comments. This also includes asking for or offering anything against the Board Rules via private messages. All content linked to outside of Zygor Guides must also be of an acceptable nature.
Zygor Guides is not legally responsible for any messages posted on the Zygor Guides Forum or the content therein, and does not necessarily advocate any content posted by users. Zygor Guides reserves the right to reveal the identity and whatever information we know about any user in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by said user.
Zygor Guides has the right but not the obligation to monitor and/or moderate the Zygor Guides forums. By registering for and using this website, you agree to follow these Terms, and agree that anything you post or submit may be moved, modified, or deleted with or without reason.
Zygor Guides reserves the right to change any or all parts of this User Agreement at its sole discretion and without notice.
Obviously, these rules don't cover everything; we reserve the right to ban or punish members even if the situation isn't covered here. Remember that these rules are meant to create a better community.
