After reading an old thread with similar issue, have tried to disable all addons and the FPS spikes stop. When I enable Zygor and only Zygor, the fps spikes return. Spikes rapidly bounce between < 20 & > 100 fps.
First occurrences of this began while questing in WotLK Dragonblight. First quest was the one at Wyrmrest Temple where you fly a drake vehicle to kill drakes attacking the temple tower. Second time spikes occur is when mounted on a gryphon vehicle to rescue terrified villagers under the Naxxramas instance. Quest name "Flight of the Wintergarde Defender". Both quests utilize a special UI interface to control the vehicle abilities. As soon as I dismount the vehicle my frame rate returns to normal and stable.

Edit: My video card can handle ultra, but have also lowered in-game video settings to their lowest possible. Fps spikes continue to occur only on quest vehicle.
