How to better "fine tune" your compass???

I've tried different settings in the zygor guide, but I can't get the compass to "the way it was".

I don't know if "directions/programming" has changed in a patch, but the compass/directions used to be so much better.

You'll see the guide tells me to talk to Mr. Shackle, whom I'm standing right in front of. But since I didn't hit that nice little green dot on my mini-map...the compass is telling me to run 253 meters away, so I can run 253 meters back to talk to Mr. Shackle.


I've used the guide for years (with breaks from the game here and there) and I think I remember that the compass (I'll try to explain this) the compass just seemed to pick which "waypoint" was the closest and sent you there. As you can see from the picture, this is not the case.


I am now currently stuck in Stormheim trying to get the "Halr Fjall" flight path, but since I missed a shiny green dot somewhere...the compass had me hearth to Valdisdall, then fly all the way to "Forsaken Foothold". (Which is all the way on the other side of the map.)

You can click on the different travel lines in the step to change the arrow to the next waypoint. You can also click on the quest name line to get the arrow to point to the NPC that gives the quest.

You can also click on any of the green dots to get the arrow point towards it.
Especially the route to the Hafr Fjall flight point can be tricky due to using the grappling hook. You can easily miss a waypoint there.
