Use the reputation system and update the cache

There's a way to do this in vBulletin. I haven't messed around with it in about 6 years. But you can update the system chron for cached items - such as names, and they will update. You might have them set to 24 hours by default - which is fine. I just noticed that that a thread that I responded to still shows my username prior to making the change to it.

Also - the reputation system has never been modified. Might be worthy of modifying.

Also, also - I'm on chrome with 1920 x 1080 display. And the "submit new thread" button appears as "submit new threa"
