Dungeon map settings

I'm a tank with a poor memory & dreadful sense of direction how can I adjust the positioning, size & transparency of the dungeon map which is currently taking up too much space

That is the main Blizzard map in it's small size with the borders hidden. I don't think you can change the size but if you have that map open when the borders are visible you can probably drag it around. You can also open and close that map at will when in dungeons with the normal map (M) key.

dragging it around would be a big step in the right direction but it appears undraggable

Try something like the Move Anything! addon.
