    Use on Linux

    Hi guys,

is there any news on the Linux front? I run WoW via Lutris/Wine and wonder if i have to go the manual install route or if there is any client for Linux in development?

    Cheers

I have the ability to create a linux build of the client, and actually had a user test it out who didn't run into any major issues. It's not available publicly since there are some more minor issues that need fixed, but I'd be willing to toss a link your way later today if you're able to deal with that. I'm out and about until later this afternoon unfortunately, so I can't get a build for the latest version out until I get home.

      That'd be great, thank you.

Double check the file is executable after you download it.

You'll want to ensure you set your installation paths correctly since the linux build can't correctly detect your setup, and my defaults very well might not match what you have.

Aside from that, the only quirks should be minor things like the app icon not being set and only being able to launch the client by executing the AppImage file and not from the app drawer or whatever you have in your distro. Let me know if there are any functionality issues though.

Just stumbled across this thread when googling zygor and linux. I hope you don't mind I also try it when I get home. I would love to see a reguarly updated linux version of the client myself, but as linux users are used to hearing, I understand if there just isn't enough demand for it.

Actually the new Zygor client I have successfully run via Wine. It's a while ago and it was while it was still beta.

I'm not sure if I'll devote much time to cleaning up the existing issues on the linux client, but as far as general bug fixes that get applied to the client itself, the linux build will get those without any additional effort. I just have to remember to load up my linux box and kick off a new build.

But anyone is welcome to use the linux build of the client that's linked a few posts up, just keep in mind there are a few non-essential issues.

                Hey there.

First of all, yes, the AppImage works pretty well. I couldn't get Zygor Client running in wine, so I chose the option.

Issue is, the client isn't updating itself it seems for some reason, it sticks to 4.1.18, which is very likely why it ain't know anything about the classic wow things .
Is there a way to force the update or a way to get a newer version packaged? There seems to be no way to manually download the guides...

Same thing as the user above me. I've tried to install the windows client through wine (it starts but the login screen is mostly black and not picking up on text input).
Any change we can get a Zygor Linux client that works for WoW Classic?

Not sure what happened but it stopped working for me. Now it's telling me "Your executable path does not exist for World of Warcraft". I've double and triple checked the setting and it's right. I've deleted my home/.config/zygor and tried to set it up again, and it's still not seeing the executable.

Can you give us a pic of the settings for the installation paths in the client?

When I try to run the .AppImage it I get Unhandled rejection Error: Cannot find channel "latest-linux.yml" update info: HttpError: 404 Not Found
