Cortello's Riddle - advised to accept but can't

I'm on step 68 Searing Gorge and it advises to click "A Soggy Scroll" but I can't turn in nor accept.
Is something skipped?

I re-sub'd and updated but it doesn't seem to be fixed.
My client is on 1.0.21133

It's written correctly in the guide (just double checked), so that means you skipped accepting the quest in Stranglethorn Vale. The guide tells you to accept the quest that is turned in on that step in the "Stranglethorn Vale (46-47)" guide, while you are killing the Bloodsail captains on the 3 ships in the water south of Booty Bay.

I skipped Stranglethorn Vale due to over-population. Is there a way I'd know in the guide that I'd have to had done that quest? Or a way to turn on a reminder to go back instead of just sending me to a false objective?

If you skip parts of the guide you will always run into situations like this. The guide was not designed to have things skipped due to the very linear nature of the questing in classic. If you choose to skip sections of a guide due to heavy pvp zones then just keep in mind that there will be a good chance you'll run into problems with quests not being available later on due to prerequisite quests not being done. In that situation just skip the step for the quests you can't do and keep going.

Ok thanks that helps me understand now. I thought it would somehow know to skip ones I couldn't do for convenience. Apologies I misunderstood.

It doesn't yet, but it will in the future. We have been working on building a quest chain database internally, and getting close to completing that. Once that is released, the guides will know the quest chains and skip steps that are impossible for you to do, without backtracking in the guide.
