Heirloom over Artifacts?

I am playing a level 100 feral druid and just started the Legion expansion content. I just acquired my artifact weapons (Fangs of Ashamane). I have been using my heirloom weapon (Burnished Warden Staff) up to this point which is upgraded to level 3/4 which allows scaling to level 110.

The Fangs appear in almost every way to be better but Zygor suggests I keep using the staff for the XP bonus even though the heirloom weapon does not appear to have an XP bonus listed among the detailed stats.

Why is Zygor suggesting the heirloom has an XP bonus even though it doesn't seem to? I am not sure what weapon I should I be using, the artifact or heirloom?

In general heirloom items will be your best choice while leveling since their stats grow with you. This is why if the heirloom can still grow it will be suggested. While the artifacts are nice just like your heirloom (currently) it will be useless after you start leveling in BfA at 110. During your leveling in Legion which weapon you are using really won't make a difference.

Out of curiosity, why does Zygor think there is an XP bonus on the heirloom weapon? Did there use to be an XP buff on heirloom weapons and that is why Zygor lists the XP bonus?

I believe that is just a generic message for all heirloom items.
