This step expects you to collect a kodo liver from a groupp of kodo in the area. The group is 4 strong and cannot be individually kited.

There are no other kodo locations suggested.

I tried on a priest and a mage both at correct level and well geared.

It'll drop from any kodo. I got it from a Lost Barrens Kodo near Crossroads.

I agree, that could've been improved. We released an update yesterday which included this change. Instead of getting the Kodo Liver in the southern part of the Barrens, we now have you get it earlier in the guide from lower level kodos west of Crossroads, as you are about to head into Stonetalon Mountains. The kodos are grey at that level, but there are multiple static locations where they spawn, which means you can find them and kill them easily, and it overall just makes the leveling path flow better in that section.
