How to unclutter the map

I'm fairly new to the guides and love them, but I'm finding myself continually frustrated with all the stuff on my map. I can't find anything on it including my arrow that represents me so I can navigate. I want the option for it to show all the info when I want it and turn it off when I don't want it. Is there a setting somewhere that would allow that?

Try disabling the ant trails in the navigation section of the guide viewer settings.

Are you talking about the bunch of POI icons all over the map, for treasures and rare spawns? If so, do not disable ant trails. Instead, open your world map and click the "Z" icon on the map, and select "Disable Points of Interest System". This will remove all of the POI's from your map, giving a tidier look. Then, if you ever want to find treasures or rare spawns again, click that Z button on the world map again to enable it. Hope that helps!
