Game Crashing during Mechagon Intro Quests

It won't let me advance to step #30 in the Mechagon Island guide. I've disabled all of the addons except for Zygor and it still crashes the game.

I restarted my computer, deleted all of the zygor files under the WTF folder, and then removed the Zygorguideviewer from the Addons folder. Reinstalled the addon and relogged into the game. I'm still getting the same error.

Try this for a test.

1. Exit the game
2. Go to your WoW/_retail_/Cache folder and delete everything in there
3. Go to your WoW/_retail_ folder and rename the Interface and WTF folders to Interface.Old and WTF.Old
4. Run the Zygor desktop client, click check for updates at the top, and then click on the Install button
5. Go in game to test and then let me know if that fixed it

You will be able to get all addons back by renaming the folders back but this will give you a 'clean' testing environment.

Thanks. I tried this but I'm still getting the same error. The game completely crashes when I try to advance to step #30 in the Mechagon guide.

Double check for a guide update again. If you are on an EU realm it might have been related to the 8.3 patch and the different days they are released around the world.

No, I’m on NA. And with a fresh install wouldn’t I have received the latest guide?

Try exiting the game, go to your WoW/retail/cache folder and delete everything in there. Then go in to test to see if you still crash.

Still crashes at random times after accepting quests and guide goes to next step.

It appears this is being caused by the game servers responding to addon queries with corrupted data. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about that.
