Are you running the most recent version of the guides? If so, do you have Load out of date addons checked in the addons option menu of the character selection screen?

Yes I am running the latest version of the guides and have selected load out of date addons.

The guide works and provides the expected quest progression however the waypoint arrow does not function as described. The settings in both the guide and in waypoints have been checked but the LUA error above is seen when logging into the game and the direction arrow is not shown.

It is a Cartographer error, not a Zygor Guide error.

Close WoW completely. Clear your Temp Internet Files. Delete all Cartographer and Zygor folders in your AddOns folder. Go inside your WoW folder, delete the Cache folder. Go inside the WTF folder, delete the Account folder. Restart your computer. Download the guide again, install it. Open WoW, disable all addons except Cartographer and Zygor addons. Check the Load Out of Date AddOns box at the top of your addons list. Enter the game, guide should work.

Make sure all of the Cartographer and Zygor folders are directly inside your AddOns folder, and not inside another folder inside your AddOns folder. Also, make sure to read the Installation Instructions carefully inside the Members Area. If you are running Vista, your AddOns folder is in a weird location (not where most would think to look).

Have done as you suggested and this resolves the issue until I enter an instance and then the problem occurs again and will not resolve until the process described above is repeated. I run some 100+ addons and I cannot do a full restore of all addons each time I run an instance.

I am getting a very similar error to this as well but it is from an addon called Accomplishment. It goes away when I disable that addon. I think its conflicting with Cartographer. Accomplishment also uses the AceTimer-3.0 as a lib. I haven't learned to program WoW addons much yet but I think the time may have come.

Here is a similar bug report with AceTimer-3.0 as well, this one includes Zygor guides and is reported for Cartographer.

OK I think I figured out more of the problem, at least for me and many others it seems like it could be a lib that is included with Cartographer as well as Fubar called LibRockTimer-1.0. Maybe I am shooting in the dark but I think I might be onto something here because that lib is a year old now. Could it also be that maybe LibRockTimer and AceTimer are just somehow conflicting with each other as timers?

Guess I can just edit instead of posting again... I figured out what solves it for me anyway. I disabled a bunch of uneeded Cartographer addons, and it seems to work fine with no errors now for me.

These are the Cart addons I still have enabled:
Cartographer
Cartographer_Coordinates
Cartographer_Notes
Cartographer_POI
Cartographer_Waypoints
Cartographer_ZoneInfo

I don't know what the bare minimum is for Zygor Guides to still work but I don't really need any of that other stuff anyway, I don't think.

Does it still give you that error when you disable some of the Cartographer addons except for the ones I listed?

OK I have some some further investigation based upon the suggestions from Sacredox - thanks and found the following to be a working solution:

Using a reduced set of Cartographer addons, and also removing the addon Routes and with a little bit of jiggery pokery it seems to work with no LUA errors.

Updated to latest Cartographer version and selected the following:
Cartographer
Cartographer_Coordinates
Cartographer_GuildPositions - in addition to Sacredox
Cartographer_Notes
Cartographer_POI
Cartographer_Waypoints
Cartographer_ZoneInfo

Installed Zygor files:
ZygorGuidesAlliance or ZygorGuidesHorde
ZygorGuidesViewer


NB: Initially I could not get the waypoint arrow to work. Only some hash briefly where the arrow icon should be... However when moving to a new zone this then corrected itself. I assume that initially loading into the game Cartographer does not correctly assign position/location for Waypoints. As this is only on initial set up and seems to be rectified now I only mention it for information purposes.
