Collecting pets and mounts by zone.

Is there a way to use the Zygor Pets and Mounts guide to collect all pets that are capturable in a particular zone? If there is I haven't been able to figure out how to do so.

No, we don't have anything setup to be able to do it by zone like that.

There's an addon called PetTracker that shows you missing pets and their location on the map.
It had some issues since the 8.0 patch so I'm not sure if the latest version works or still throws errors:

With close to a thousand unique pets, only about 35-40% are 'wild', and setting up collections will only get you so far.

Addons such as "collect me", "ALL THE THINGS" "rarity" or "pet tracker" can be helpful as reminders or objectives to aim for, but a significant number of pets are tedious or require grind/RNG to obtain, or near impossible/expensive, i.e. 'limited availability', chinese-account-only, RAF rewards, TCG or 0.001% drop rates.

It might be possible as an achievement/quest based guide, which is how the existing guides work, i.e. based on families, zones, or types, i.e. quest-based, dungeon based, or holiday/event based.


zygor could further copy/emulate the patch-work of other pet guides, sites like Xu-Fu's and WarcraftPets are a godsend for pet battlers,
i.e. strategies and collection lists needed to get reliable teams for achievements like Legion's Family Familiar, which takes a few weeks/months of world quests to repeatedly beat the same trainer with 12 different teams.

I have 822 unique pets, and I'm still missing a few needed to complete some achievements and collect others. Namely those that require RNG or drops, raid achievements in older content, or 0.1% drop rate items.

There are easier questlines and achievement lines like the Falcosaur(s) are peculiar, and require repeated loops as well as 'forward planning' for some events, etc. http://www.wowhead.com/falcosaur-guide , for example, one of the Falcosaur mount quest stages is 'defeat a legion raid boss', but it's mostly doable. it just might not take the '15 days' as noted, since some dailies are more challenging than others.

Xu-Fu's site is an awesome source for pet battle fans. The great thing about a site spezialized on one thing is that it can go far more in depth and is interactive, users can share their strategies.
