New Zygor Elite Membership Coming This Holiday Season

by (8 years ago).

GuideSuite

In our recent survey earlier this year one of the most common requests we received was to make it cheaper to access the entire suite of Zygor Guides products. That is why this holiday season we will be introducing a new membership experience called Zygor Elite.

Zygor Elite is for players who would like to experience all Zygor has to offer without the large one time fees involved in buying each guide individually and upgrading each expansion. Instead you’ll now be able to pay a small monthly fee and access all guides with no additional fees for expansions.

The Zygor Elite membership will include:

  • Full access to the entire Zygor catalog of products.
  • Expansion upgrades included at no additional charge (including the upcoming Legion expansion).
  • Access to Auction Trend Data for use with Zygor’s Gold Guide.
  • Ongoing maintenance updates and more community requested guide features.
  • Additional benefits to be announced closer to launch.

The new subscription option will be launching this holiday season (aiming for November) and will be priced at $7.99 / month for new users. As part of our Customer Loyalty Program existing users will be able to switch to the new subscription option at a reduced rate of $4.99 /month. Existing users who prefer to pay one time fees and upgrades can still continue to do so.

If this new option proves popular we may bring back fully updated guides for ESO and WildStar, and possibly guides for new games as well, to be included in the subscription plan at no additional charge.

We will have more information closer to the launch. Stay tuned!

I was wondering how the guides and service was going to work and was worried that those of us that have paid for most of the guides or all. How would this new sub affect us? If we don’t pay for a sub will we be able to still access the guides we have purchased? Granted I am happy to see the other faction will be included with the sub and the guides we may not own but I’m still curious to know why I would want to sub after I already purchased most all the guides? I did see the reduced rate and that is awesome and haven’t had any issues with the guides. I do want to give all that put this site and guides together huge props for their work and keep it going.

I have all but one or two of the guides and have been with you all sense the start or for years . was about to buy the last one of two I don’t polly still will even if i SUB .

I was one of them that sent a PM Once asking if you ever do this don’t do what the other guide does which to me screw’s everyone :i spent a lot of money on that other guide like here and sometimes got BS for asking him to add something ) . but with this guide it much better and just works , i all most never get any errors if i do they are usually fixed with in hours i don’t need to say a thing .

    When deos it start ?

I already own every guide. At a $3.00 per month savings, It will take me around 100 months to break even for supporting you for the last 8 years. But you already know this. I’ll wait to see how you implement the monthly payment transactions from bank accounts. Also, If anything improves with your guides as a result of your additional income stream.
I do wish you my best. It will be interesting to see how many pay you $5 – $8 per month for absolutely nothing but a promise of good things to come.

My only issue with this is that I am disabled and my pathetic disability income of $763.00 per month does not really allow me to jump on the band wagon. Maybe if the Government would allow me to write off my student loans, which I am currently having to 134.70 a month on, I could afford the cost. Why is it the RICH can write off their student loans, but the poor have to pay theirs? Seems to me that the ones always made to pay are the poor people. I guess we are the ones who have to bail those rich lame politicians out again. When are the voters going to wake up and realize we need to fire the ENTIRE lot of them and hire in some new ones and at the same time take control of our government by deciding what their starting pay rate is and deciding if, when, and how much of a pay raise they get. Only when we the people do this will the problems start getting fixed. And we do need them fixed!

I’m sorry for your situation but why would you come to a site like this and post your personal whoas? This is the place for that. We all have something we could gripe about.

If we already own several guides and switch to this monthly plan and then for whatever reason take a break from game and therefor stop the sub… would we then loose everything we’d already paid for pre monthly elite plan, or would we still be able to access the previously purchased guides?

Might be some use if they even worked right. Leveling is full of bugs by level 10. Forget trying for 100. I’m hung up on a non existent quest. It gives information and plans for impossible disconnected journeys with no quest. I wonder if I really want to play WoW if they don’t work.

Look I have been a user forever and own all the guides outright … both horde and alliance plus all the WOW new updates. So what’s in it for me … I can just purchase the latest update when it comes out and because I purchased the other guides with the promise of continued updates (if you don’t cut that promise off), I want to know what is in it for me to pay you a monthly fee???

The current system is almost a subscription model although not quite. You get a limited capability for each dollar increment u pay. After a few expansions, the guides are not very useful. That being said, if you like the guodes, u buy them. Otherwise you don’t. Not sure if I will. Lots of money to keep up, but… it takes a lot of money, time and effort to develop these guides.

Just now saw this in the patcher – very very veeeery happy. Mostly because some of the guides are a little more expensive for what you get. Some I use more than I thought I would. And it takes me a while to really put one to use. Sure info is available anywhere on WowHead. But this is convenient. Just wish it was a little slimmer on resources and WoD it seems the location / pathfinding is a bit rough.

I really like this. Buuuttt…..I was just about to buy your Gold and Auction guide but have put it on hold and am waiting for November when I would really like it now. Maybe you could make a deal that anyone buying guides now will get a credit for a few months if they take up the subscription offer?

I agree Tim. I was about to buy a couple of guides, but I too have decided to hold off. Sadly, I have time off due to surgery and playing via a guide is good “therapy” for me. By November i’ll be back at work.

Is there any thoughts on a rebate or such Zygor?

Same-oh. I really wanted to purchase the rest of the guides I don’t have but will need to wait. I’ll sign up for a full year upfront or whatever if I can get the guides sooner than November. I know I know, November 1st is 45+ days from now but hell, anything can happen in Azeroth between now and then!

When we add a yearly option, there will likely be a discount of some sort. We will likely be launching the subscription service with only the monthly option, and adding a yearly option later is there is a big demand for that.

I’ve been buying the zygor guides since wotlk. I’ve paid for each guide and then multiple upgrades since then. easily spending over $300-$400 in total. Is your site willing to look at giving players who have been long time customers something better than $2 less a month in your premium service? or are you more interested in cash than fostering long term customer happiness?

    Reply
    1. Zygor Post author

      Hey Shin,

It’s always a delicate balance to maintain competitive pricing and high quality products. If we slash prices too steeply it ends up cutting into the funds we have to produce guides.

We’d prefer to generate customer happiness by being able to provide guides continuously, always updated with the latest patches and expansions, rich with powerful features, and even expand to other games one day.

Of course, we will continue to try to find new ways to offer customers the best value, whether that be coupons, or things like the recently announced subscription plan with loyalty benefits.

      $4.99 * 12 = $59.88 x 2 years =$118.76 (about as long as the expansions last right?)
If bought individually it would cost $250.00 for the current guides.
So it would take 50 months or 4 years for this not to make sense.

I AGREE WITH TONY: I currently own many of the guides: WOOT WOOT! Can’t wait for access to the few guides I don’t own and am glad I won’t have to upgrade. $5.00/month is worth it for me.

I am a longtime-user of Zygors guides (not only for WOW). And I have a lot of fun with it. I heard, that “Legion” could be the last Addon for WOW. As I am already proud owner of all your guides, I wonder what would be the better solution for me.

Can you estimate the Price for the Legion-Guide-Upgrades ?

Keep on doing the top work you do !

For every single guide we sell, the upgrades would be around $150+ price range. Also, this is almost guaranteed to not be the last WoW expansion. The game is still incredibly profitable for Blizzard, so I don’t see any way they’re stopping any time soon.

To qualify for the $4.99 monthly subscription, I need to be a “loyalty” member (having made previous purchases). If I’ve purchased only one guide, will that still qualify me for $4.99 and if not, what is the purchase threshold or value I must meet to qualify?

Good idea, though I’d like something like the Dugi loyalty program being implemented at the same time. Their Loyalty program is effective once you have reach $175 total purchases or more, and my account gets flagged for free lifetime updates, and I know I have spent way more than that on all of your guides in the past, or at least cheaper full guide packages for loyalty members.

  17. fifogigo

Couple questions, for members that fall into the “Loyalty” rate, will there be any sort of discount if they would rather buy than pay monthly? If someone goes to monthly, would they loose access if they stop paying? And for those that have already bought the ESO/Wildstar guides, how will this affect them?

    1. Zygor Post author

You will continue to outright own the guides you purchased via one-time fees, we’re not taking those away. As for any guides you gain access to via the subscription, then yes, if you stop paying for the subscription, you lose access to those products.

Hopefully we can do the 3 month or 6 month or even the yearly subscriptions. It makes it alot easier and/or convenient for alot of people. Question: What happens to the many guides we previously own, say down the line if for some reason we can no longer pay for the subscription? Will we no longer be able to access the guides? How will that work? Just curious here…

Being a Zygor Guides user for years, this is actually a great idea. Same way that Dugi Guides does, however, Dugi Guides are $2.00 cheaper for a monthly rate. Maybe you guys might want to implement a rewards feature? For every new member an older member gets to sign up, the older member gets a year FREE, or a $1.00 taken off of their subscription, or something similar. Just saying. Been paying for some time now for 3 sets of Zygor Guides. Yeah, I pay for mine & 2 other friends guides.
    Food for thought.

That could change, though, if we get more feedback wanting other in-between options, but those are the 2 most popular options by far, currently. If you want more term options (3 month, 6 month), reply here! Thanks.

This is exactly the information I was looking for. I will likely use the yearly option if I do this, and I may as I would get more access for about what I plan to pay to upgrade the guides I already own when Legion comes out, but having a 6 month option I think would help a lot of people. Possibly even 3 month (quarterly).

I am a huge fan of your guides and have acquired quite a few. As a long time member, I am glad to see that Zygor might be looking at ways to reviving their support to Widstar and ESO. Taking a break from WoW, I recently returned to ESO and was quite dismayed to find out that my Zygor guide addon was out of date and no longer supported.
ESO is a changed and much better game now and will be playing it for the foreseeable (3-6 months at least) future.
So whatever you can do to once again update/support the ESO guides, you can count on my support and hard earned $.

To all those who are unhappy I say this- think what you pay for your monthly wow gametime- now think that if you use the gold guide properly you can easily pay for your zygor sub, from the gold you make with the ah guide, probably within only a few days of farming or playing the ah.

We’re hoping the addition of subscriptions will allow us to afford to hire more guide writers, so we can get the ESO and Wildstar guide available again. Any guides we add (including for new games) will be included in the subscription, whether at the regular price, or the loyalty price. The loyalty option is just cheaper, that’s all.

I already have every one of the products from zygors. Is there going to be some “deal” for me? I understand the loyalty price but the thing is why would I pay any price right now as I am fully covered for all the guides until the expansion comes out. Will I be able to wait until the legions exp comes out and then start subscribing for the $4.99 or will I need to start the subscription this holiday season when it is launched and pay for the months until release for something I already get?

In your particular situation, owning all the products already, it would make more sense to signup closer to when the new WoW expansion is about to release. We’ll likely offer a grace period up until the new expansion allowing loyal customers to signup at the discounted rate, so you can signup when the time is right for you. Thanks for the support, Dale!

Well, i would consider going subscription only after it is official that you would support ESO and Wildstar again, until then, I’ll keep to buying the guides individually. THRILLED to have that option. The idiots that don’t like it all seem to be complaining about the fact that you’re switching to a “monthly” based program. Did they not read the part that says you’ll still have the option to do it the way you’re doing it now?! It’s like they see the word “subscription,” and just shut down, and don’t continue reading. I’m very excited to have this model, and that you’re leaving the current option there as well. I only wish you were starting it sooner. Especially with flying in Draenor. It will be nice to a way to get the needed achievement without having to buy guides that I don’t really want anyway.

Looks awesome! Been waiting on an option like this 🙂

I see people saying you tried this in the past, but I’ve must have missed it since I never got notified of this option before now.

As for the (legitimate) question another posted: “But whats stopping people from subbing for one month, then disabling updater and then its there and can stop subbing and the guides are just there?”

I’d say they probably could not update any guides if they did that through the system. True, one could get a pirated copy, but at least this way the ones that made the guides got 5-10 bucks for it that one month (times however many people) verses nothing at all if a person doing this simply pirated it.

As for me, I choose to pay and I would hope all those using the guides will do the same. I can dream, right? These are pretty well done in-game guides and I do feel a something is deserved, even if I do think full priced was always a bit high. Which is why I normally wait for those wonderful sales!

Just one question: If this does not work out and those who already bought guides had switched, will their previously purchased guides still be available if you drop the program?

In the past 6 months Zygor has been updating their guide seems like once a week at least..Auction data every day..People could do that if they wanted but it wouldn’t matter in 3 days when it’s updated again.

In our experience, most people are honest and want to pay for products they get enjoyment out of, as long as the price is reasonable. With this subscription option being about the same cost as a single fast food meal for an entire month of gaming convenience, that removes the huge price barrier. There will always be those who want to steal, no matter what, though, so we prefer to focus on providing the best service we can to those who choose to support us – like you! 🙂 Thanks.

If you’re an existing customer, you won’t be affected by this at all. You can continue to purchase guides by paying the one time fees and then paying the upgrade fee for expansions. Nothing is changing. You will now just have another option available to you if you so choose. Customers complained when it was going to be the only option available.

You’re still trying to push this subscription option?
You have also been told, via surveys, that many / most don’t want a subscription model for guides.
You seem blind to what people are saying and determined to press ahead with your idea.
People may not want big one-time fees but what most people are saying, when they ask for it to be cheaper to access your guides, is not that a monthly fee is acceptable.
Rather, they’re asking for the single-price guides to not be so expensive.
    Simply that.

That’s not the point he was making. The point was — that many people expressed the opinion that the Guides were too expensive. The answer apparently is — buy the subscription. The subscription is an alternative to purchasing outright, and does nothing to address the original complaint.

Im not sure why you think this is a bad idea, I have most of the guides, every expansion i pay a minimum of 150 $ to upgrade so I can have access to current guides for ally and horde .. under the sub pricing , if I pay the full 4.99 a month (excluding any loyalty bonus) .. for a 2 year expac I would only pay $120. and this would also include the other guides I haven’t paid to have yet …. the math makes your argument invalid ..
