Firstly, if your goal is to unlock the talent traits and buy all the cosmetics, ensure you focus on the talent traits first, every few perks you unlock will provide you with a 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% increase to Corrosive Coin drops capping out at a 250% total increase.
If you’re only interested in the vendor items though, the Altar of Corrosion traits are still efficient for you unlock, at least partially anyway. That’s because we can unlock the first 25% bonus for free and the 50% bonus for a fairly low amount of Corrosive Coins.
Getting Your 75% Corrosive Coin Bonus Before Farming
Whether you are after the traits first or the collectables this initial section is important before you begin any kind of grind if efficiency is your goal. You will need 10 traits unlocked to get a 75% bonus, however 5 of those can be obtained without spending a single Corrosive Coin and the next 5 will cost you around 10,000 Corrosive Coins, 1,000 of that you will get for free from the initial Altar unlock quest.
The first step will be getting the 5 free Spirit Corrosion which will get you a 25% bonus, the first four are from the hidden perk unlock quests that will each award a Spirit Corrosion on completion.

Altar of Corrosion Hidden Traits Guide
The next free Spirit Corrosion will be awarded at renown 8 with Zul’jarra’s Forces, you will most likely be close to this if not already at this renown level, if you aren’t there yet then you can gain extra reputation from the one item lore items, the treasures, the side quests, the main campaign, the first kill of rares, world quests and the weekly/daily content.
Although if you aren’t close to renown 8 then skipping this for now and simply purchasing the initial Spirit Corrosion for 1k Corrosive Coins is a fine alternative too.
That will provide you with the first 25% bonus. From here you will want to either purchase 5 additional perks once you have enough Corrosive Coins or push your renown to rank 8 and purchase 4 Spirit Corrosions instead. That will give you a 75% total increase to your Corrosive Coins, this investment becomes worthwhile if you’re planning to farm over 31,000 Corrosive Coins worth of rewards. So if you plan to spend more than 31k then pushing for the 75% is worth it, otherwise the 25% bonus should be your focus.
As mentioned earlier if your goal is full completionist then you should focus the Altar first.
Best Farming Methods For Corrosive Coins
Now that you have your bonuses unlocked, next is how best to obtain Corrosive Coins.
The best method currently is 5 man party mob farming, you should be able to find groups farming while the content is still relevant and an efficient group can see around 10k or more Corrosive Coins per hour, this will vary based on your % bonus and the groups efficency but regardless its going to be one of the best methods you can use.
It’s simple too, you will progressively rotate around the Vaults of Atal’utek, clearing mobs and gaining progress towards, Patrols, Strikes and Incursions when possible, this is even better if you’ve picked up the weekly quest Purging the Vaults. You’ll be gaining most of your currency from the mob farming but will see occassional bonuses from the various events and will eventually complete your weekly quest for an additional 1875 Corrosive Coins.
The events award the following:
- Temple Patrol – 20 Coins
- Temple Strike – 75 Coins
- Temple Incursion – 175 Coins
- Ancient Foe – 200 Coins
So that should give you a better idea of the additional value the events can add to your total farming methods.
If you aren’t interested in joining a group then you would be doing a similar strategy, instead you would have more focus on the easy to achieve Patrols, Strikes and Incursions, while farming mobs in between.
Casual Farming Methods For Corrosive Coins
If you’re not interested in farming mobs all day long then you can still progressively work towards your Corrosive Coin goals, it will just take much longer.
The first method is to complete the Purging the Vaults weekly quest on your main character for 1875 Corrosive Coins and also on any alts you play actively too as they will receive 1500 Corrosive Coins that can be transferred to your main. You’ll be gaining a few hundred more Corrosive Coins from taking part in the events and defeating mobs to complete the weekly quest, so your total net gain should be somewhere in the range of 2k-2.5k coins per character per week.
There will also be daily quests within the Vaults to pick up, that award up to 200 Corrosive Coins, most of them you will naturally get completed while playing in the Vaults, so it is definitely worth grabbing these when they are available.
If you’re interested in making gold while farming then you can path towards the Corroded Grounds Altar perk. This allows you to gain a small amount of coins while gathering in the Vaults, it won’t be much but is a nice way to double dip. Similarly with treasures, you will gain a handful from opening Soulcoiler’s Caches and Soulcoiler’s Troves which also have a chance to contain Uncommon or Rare quality BOE gear that you can sell.
If you want to focus even more on treasures you can path towards the Slithering Secrets trait. This allows the venom-enhanced enemies (purple outlined) mobs to have a chance of dropping a Decrepit Key which can be used on the Decrepit Caches on the surface of the Coiled Isle, these give a good chance for Uncommon and Rare gear along with up to 50 Corrosive Coins.
Summary
The best Corrosive Coin farming method will depend on how much time you want to spend grinding. If you’re looking for the most efficient method possible then it’s 75% Altar increase + group farming, while completing nearby events.
For more casual players, completing your weekly and daily quests while taking part in the various events within the Vaults will still provide slower but steady progression.
Regardless of your goals, you should put some focus into getting at least the 25% drop rate increase and ideally pushing for the 75% increase.
