Downloading on Windows XP: .NET Framework error?

I'm downloading on Windows XP. It keeps telling me when I open the downloader:

ZygorGuides_Updater.exe - .NET Framework Initialization Error
Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application.

After installing the .NET Framework that Cartman linked to make sure you run your Windows Update to get any security updates to the .NET Framework and after all that is done make sure to re-boot your computer.

Now, when I click the downloader it says:

ZygorGuides_Updater.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.

Do you think it will work when I download it manually?

How do I download it manually? Do I need Wow Matrix or Curse Client?

To do a manual install log into the Members Area here on the website and go to the download section. There is a button below the Windows button that is a .zip file download of the guides. Just grab that .zip and extract the contents to your AddOns directory.

For the Updater, have you tried to right click on it and run it as an Administrator?

Does anyone know which version of .NET the Zygor updater requires and if 4.0 is backward compatible? Maybe 4.0 is not compatible, MS made such mistakes earlier with 2.0 not being compatible with 1.0...

You can try installing .NET 3.0:

Zygor Updater requires at least 2.0

Our Guides only require .net framework 2.0. However, this is different for a 32 bit or a 64 bit computer. Here are the links below for each one. Hope this helps.
