My guess is that there was probably some kind of hiccup in the web connection right after it finished downloading and installing the new update, but before it could connect again to verify the files. Or something like that.

The things that come into my mind when there are problems with the updater:
The password should not contain any special characters, just normal letters and numbers, no � or � or �$%. I think they changed something in the server communication but who knows.
Your WoW is installed into "Program Files" which is a bad idea as this folder is protected by the system and addons my have problems when the addons folder is inside this. Try running the updater as administrator (rightclick the icon).

But he said he did get it updated, just that it popped off that error.

One thing I learned here is that I always have to think of the simple things and double check everything

I don't know if the updater got an update because of the special characters. If it did maybe something still is wrong.

Launched updater couple of times and havent seen this error again. Also there were no issues with in-game guides. I gues it was some issue with that particular launch as cabby said. Anyway thanks for quick response.

I only get this error messages if zygor files is in use and not writeable. If your wow client is active, shut it down while updating.
