I have tried all i can think of, including a clean install of the guide as mentioned elsewhere in the forum. but for some reason the viewer is using 25+mb of addon memory. is this normal? most if not all of my other addons max out at 10mb (auctioneer scan data).

Yes, this is normal because the guide viewer currently loads all guides owned or personally created at once. When compared to the 3gb ram that most people have in their systems now-a-days it's still a drop in the bucket.My Flight Path Follies guide
