Patch 7.2 Content Released To Stable Build (And Beta Changes)

by (7 years ago).

A new update is available that adds in most of the content for Patch 7.2 to our live/stable build. This was content that had been in development in our beta build but has now been tested, polished, and is now being brought over to our stable build.

With this update we’re also making a change to how our Beta program works in general, but first, a clarification on the difference between the live and beta guides. In order to update the guides when new patches are released we have to play through the content just as a normal player would, and as the game as become more nuanced towards unique questlines for the games 12 classes, this process can take a great deal of time. In the past, we would release content as soon as it was available, but because this content was still in development, players would often encounter errors and other problems. Since these guides weren’t clearly marked as “in development”, it gave the impression that these were fully finished guides that just weren’t written well.

To address this, we created the Beta Program, a Zygor Elite perk, which allowed users to access the guides in development as a separate download, with the clear designation that these were beta guides. This was done so that users wouldn’t have to wait weeks after a patch for the finished guides to arrive.

So far, the response from the beta users has been very positive, but there has been a bit of confusion. Some users have had difficulty figuring out how to access the beta. There is also the issue that two versions of the addon cannot be enabled without causing errors. Others seemed to be unaware that the beta even existed, making it appear that we had no new content.

To address all these issues we’re making a change to the way our beta guides are released. Instead of a separate, dedicated download for the beta, we’re now merging the two into a single release. Going forward, new guides in development will show up in our stable build, but will be clearly labeled as “BETA” in the guide menu, and in the viewer. This should make it easier to discover what content is available, and at what stage it is in, without the technical difficulties of two separate downloads.

Of course, if you’d prefer not to use these guides in development you don’t have to, but if you do want to you should no longer have any problems finding them or getting them to run.

NOTE: You will no longer see a separate beta download option in the client.

you hear those words of absolution, your heart will rejoice! This is one thing I find I don’t experience in the old form of Confession because the only word I can make out is excommunication. However, I prefer that it’s a three-fold absolution and more instills more graces than the new rite, so I’m willing to give up that moment.
