All settings and guide progress disappear randomly

I have the problem that all my settings reset and my guide progress reset as well. It happens sporadically.

It's a huge problems since I have many alts and I have to figure out which guide they were doing.

I think its related to the desktop app since it often happens after I used it.

Go into the desktop app settings and in the Downloads section change the bottom option to "Let me choose when to sync my in-game settings". See if that stops it from happening for you.

That was already selected. All settings were deleted earlier today.

Do you ever click the Sync button at the top of the desktop app?

I have the problem too, i have to at least every other day delete the guide and download again am on not happy as it is a nuisance finding out when logging in everything is gone again.

I was going to log in to wow and of course checked the guide and once again all gone, I done all that can be done, since i was guided through by an admin in chat here, and now to have to delete and re install again, this happening daily now. could it have something to do with my pc ? in the registry ?

How do you exit the game? The files that contain the settings for the in game guides get written when you exit the game so either exiting the game the wrong way or another addon preventing the files from being written properly will be what does it. Other than that the only other time the settings file would be accessed is when doing a cloud sync with the desktop app which is why setting that to manual (see post 2) will prevent it from doing a sync unless you specifically tell it to.

I never sync. All I do is start the updater and update any guides. The sync button is marked with grey.
