Can someone please explain something for me?

At level 55 I finally left the Eastern Lands and moved to Kalimdor.

All the guide is directing me to do now is to run around on many trips to pick up flight paths.

No quests, no XP, no nothing. Just run around after a dozen or more flight path collections.

Does this sound right to all of you that have gone through this already?

The guide is leading you to Winterspring (since you can't go from level 55 to level 60 solely on Eastern Kingdoms). So, we figured, while you're traveling all that way, might as well pick up the flight paths along the way. So, that's what's happening for you. Eventually, you'll get to Winterspring and you'll be back to questing from 55-58, then it's off to Blasted Lands for 58-60. :-)
