Turning off Auto Update.

Can't remember how to do it, I remember it popped up in the log or notes, but for the life of me I can't find where it said

Can anybody help? I think it was hold shift or something when you run it?

Yes, holding shif while starting the updater should stop the automatic update and start of WoW.
Other solutions are editing the registry but first try the shift key
