Now this is a rumor but seems to be legit:

According to a leak on a Chinese Diablo 3 fansite, you will be able to purchase Diablo 3 characters and Diablo 3 items off of the auction house for in-game gold, or real life currency. WOW! This is an absolute shock. We have five screenshots for you, which are part of the fansite kit that Blizzard gave out during their July 27th press event.
As you can see here, you will be able to purchase and sell items on the Diablo III auction house with real life currency! This opens a whole new door for the game, which can be both a good, and a bad thing. This helps fight off gold farming sites, and helps ensure your account’s safety. By allowing people to buy and sell items in the game for real life money, it makes the gold selling websites almost useless.
This also allows people to make profit off of playing the game! Always getting crap from your friends and family for playing “just a game”? Well, you can now earn an income (somewhat), depending on how much you play.
In this screenshot, you can see the player searching through the Diablo 3 auction house to find a couple of upgrades. It appears that you will be able to buy and sell items on any of your characters through the Battle.net system. The search interface has quite a few options for you to set to help narrow down your searches, even a max buyout option.
The above screenshot shows a player’s current auctions.
This image allows us to see a lot of interesting things, let me point some out for you.
First of all, it confirms for us that we will be able to buy items with in-game currency and real life money. As you can see, the “balance” in the top right has changed from “Balance: $50.00″ to “Balance: 48,657″.
It also shows us that there is a 72 hour “timeout” on selling items. The player just purchased the [Heavenly Axe of Virtue] for 2,840, but the “Sell Item” button is disabled and below it has the message “Available in 72 hours”. I like this idea, it keeps people from being able to buy and sell items for profit (as much).
This last screenshot is of the players current bids. As you can see on the left-hand side of the screen, there are 5 total categories for auctions.
Equipment
Characters
Gems
Crafting & Dyes
Tomes & Pages
Gold
Look at #2 on the list, characters!!! Not only will you be able to purchase items on the auction house, you will also be able to purchase Diablo 3 characters on there too! I don’t know about you guys, but I really did not see that coming.
I don’t know about you guys, but I am really excited for this new style of auction house. This isn’t anything that’s been done before (as far as I’m aware), and looks like it may really work out. What do you guys think? I’d love to hear some of your thoughts and opinions (post them below)!
